A short inspection before the busy season is cheaper than losing a weekend to a machine that will not start.
Start with service items
Check oil level and condition, air filtration, fuel condition, spark plug, cables, tyres and fasteners. Cutting equipment should be inspected for damage and sharpened or replaced when required.
Do not skip safety systems
Seat switches, blade-stop systems, guards and emergency controls should work before the machine goes back into regular use.
